Ask Pikaboo: two options, one audience, a real shopper answer.

Ask Pikaboo is a free tool that shows South African brands real consumer preferences, opinions and behaviours before they spend money on media, partnerships and new markets. You type in two products or two ad lines and choose an audience. Pika, the tool’s guide, answers from real shopper choices. If the answer doesn’t exist yet, Ask Pikaboo sets up a test with real shoppers.

It is as easy as clicking around on ask.pikaboo.ai. You don’t need an account to see an answer.

Ask Pikaboo is built for brand managers, marketers, agencies and their supporting teams. Its promise is simple: test your message, flavour, price and positioning before you press buy.

How does it work?

Let’s walk through ask.pikaboo.ai together.

You ask a question, and Pika answers from real shopper data. The answers are fresh and nuanced, and nothing runs without your yes.

  1. Enter two options. Type option A and, if you like, option B. These can be two products or two ad lines. The site offers quick examples, like two cola brands, two washing powders or two ad lines.
  2. Pick the audience you want to hear from. Start with all South African shoppers, or narrow it to a group like township moms, spaza regulars or hair and beauty buyers. There are more audiences to choose from. The tool also tells you how well your audience fits its shopper panel.
  3. Ask Pika. Pika checks its database of real shopper answers and the published studies they cite, then gives you an answer. It’s free, with no sign-up.
  4. Turn a new question into a test. If your question is new, Pika sets it up as a test. Real shoppers pick one option and say why.
  5. Get a scoped proposal. Our team will email you the price and the plan. The test only runs once you approve it, so fire off those enquiries.

Already ran a campaign? Ask Pikaboo also has a reporting option for checking results after the fact.

Where do the answers come from?

Every answer comes from real people: South African shoppers who play 2Klip, our consumer audience game. In 2Klip’s product games, players choose between products and say what they would buy. Those choices become the answers Pika draws on.

Three things set this apart:

  • No AI respondents. No AI writes Pika’s answers, and no made-up numbers fill gaps. Answers come from real shopper choices, the published studies they cite and the words you typed.
  • Your ads stay private. Asking a question doesn’t show your ads to anyone. Shoppers only see them if you approve a test.
  • Strongest where data is thinnest. The panel’s widest read is in Cape Town’s townships, places that broad ad platforms and traditional research often miss.

A real result

Here is a real product test from the site. 382 shoppers chose between two braiding hair products between 5 August and 27 September 2026:

Real product test, 382 shoppers
Product A 70%
Product B 18%
Neither 12%

That is a clear winner, and the 12% who picked neither is a useful signal too.

Why not just use ad platform data?

Broad ad platforms show you who clicked. They don’t show you who chose what, or why. Ask Pikaboo asks shoppers to make the choice directly.

Why it matters

Media is a deep budget line, and guessing gets costlier by the quarter. Ask Pikaboo lets brands check what shoppers prefer before they commit a budget.

For brands, that means a quicker, cheaper way to pick the stronger message or product. You can also reach audiences that are hard to read with clicks alone. For shoppers, it means their everyday choices count, and on 2Klip they earn rewards for sharing them.

Test your message before you buy the media.
