Privacy notice

Last updated 5 September 2026. Applies to www.timbuk2.ai.

Who we are

This website is operated by Timba2 (Pty) Ltd, trading as Timbuk2, a company registered in South Africa. For the purposes of the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA), Timbuk2 is the responsible party for personal information collected through this website. You can reach us at info@timbuk2.ai.

This notice covers this website only. Where our products collect personal information, that processing is governed by the agreement or notice that applies to the product.

What we collect

  • Contact form. Your name, email address, organisation, organisation website, the solution you are interested in and the message you write.
  • Demo bookings. If you book a call through the scheduling link on our contact page, Google Calendar collects the details you enter under Google's own terms and privacy policy.
  • Newsletter. Your email address, if you subscribe on the blog. Subscriptions are handled by our email provider.
  • Analytics. We use Google Analytics and PostHog to understand how the site is used. They collect information such as pages viewed, the link that brought you here, device and browser type, approximate location derived from your IP address, and identifiers stored in cookies or browser storage.
  • Hosting logs. Our hosting provider records technical information about requests to the site, including IP address, time and the page requested, for security and reliability.

Why we use it

  • To respond to your enquiry and follow up on a demo request.
  • To send the newsletter you asked for. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in each email.
  • To understand which pages are useful and improve the site.
  • To keep the site secure and available.

We rely on your consent for the newsletter and analytics cookies, on the steps needed to respond to your request for the contact form and demo bookings, and on our legitimate interest in running a secure website for hosting logs.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with the service providers that run parts of this website on our behalf: our hosting provider (Amazon Web Services), Google (Analytics and Calendar), PostHog and our newsletter provider. Each acts on our instructions. Some of these providers process information outside South Africa, including in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on the provider's contractual commitments to protect it to a standard that is consistent with POPIA.

Cookies

The site uses cookies and similar browser storage for analytics only. It does not run advertising cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works without them.

How long we keep it

Contact form messages are kept for as long as we need them to handle your enquiry and any resulting relationship. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is kept for the retention period configured in each analytics tool. Hosting logs are kept for a limited period for security purposes.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask us to confirm whether we hold personal information about you, to give you access to it, to correct or delete it, and to stop processing it in certain circumstances. To exercise any of these rights, email info@timbuk2.ai. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.

Children

This website is intended for businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through it.

Changes

We will update this notice when our practices change and record the date of the latest change above.
