How 2Klip Rewards Work
BUK2 comes from signing up, finishing reward games and inviting friends, and you spend it on airtime, data, electricity and vouchers. Here is how it works, and why small rewards matter.
The short answer
2Klip pays real rewards for what you already know about where you live.
Here is the quick version of how you unearth value on 2Klip: BUK2 comes from signing up, finishing reward games and inviting friends. You spend it in the Shop on airtime, data, electricity and vouchers.
This guide breaks down each one, with real examples of what players have won. It also explains why we think small rewards, like R2 of airtime or a data bundle, matter more than they look.
BUK2: the reward you can spend
BUK2 is 2Klip’s reward balance. Today, 10 BUK2 is worth R1 of airtime, and the smallest swap is 20 BUK2. It lives in your account wallet, and you spend it in the Shop.
How you earn BUK2
- Welcome BUK2. Sign up free and get up to 3 BUK2, one for each of your first 3 places.
- Reward games. Finish a product game for a chance at BUK2. Each game shows what it pays before you start, and a share of finishers win.
- Daily challenges. Some quick challenges pay a small, fixed amount once a day.
- Inviting friends. When a friend you invite joins and plays, you earn BUK2 too.
How you spend BUK2
- Open the Shop and pick a reward: airtime, data, electricity or a voucher.
- Check its BUK2 price. Prices are set per item, so always look before you confirm.
- Confirm, then track it in your Inbox. If it says it is still processing, wait rather than redeeming again.
What BUK2 is not
BUK2 is not cash, and you cannot withdraw it. It is also separate from your Pin It practice score. A high practice score does not turn into BUK2 on its own. We keep these apart on purpose, so a number on your screen always means one clear thing.
Why small rewards make a real difference
A R10 data top-up looks small, but for many South Africans it decides whether they can stay connected today. That is why 2Klip pays out in airtime, data, electricity and vouchers, not points that sit unused.
Connectivity
Across sub-Saharan Africa, the main barrier to using the internet is no longer network coverage, it is cost.
About 66% of people in the region live where mobile broadband reaches but do not use it. A 20 GB data bundle costs around 14% of average monthly income, and 44% for the poorest fifth of people. Most phones run on prepaid airtime, so when the balance runs out, the connection stops.
A few rand of airtime might not change the world, but it keeps someone reachable for a job call, a clinic reminder or a family check-in.
BUK2 is intentional because it fits our bigger mission
Timbuk2 maps the places conventional data misses: townships, informal shops and fast-changing neighbourhoods. Businesses often treat these areas as quiet or unknown, simply because nobody has asked the people who live there. When a market looks quiet, it can be a sign of limited access rather than low demand, as we explored in an earlier post.
2Klip turns local knowledge into play. Every accurate pin and every honest product choice becomes evidence. That evidence helps retailers and brands see real demand, and players earn rewards for it. It works as a fair exchange: knowledge for value, flowing both ways.
Quick answers
Do practice points turn into BUK2? No. Practice points show your skill and stay on your device. BUK2 comes from reward games, daily challenges, sign-up and invites.
Does every reward game pay out? No. A share of finishers win, and each game shows what it pays before you start. Finishing gives you a chance, not a sure win.
Can I cash out BUK2? No. You swap it for the rewards listed in the Shop.
How is the Pin It competition winner picked? The pin closest to the real place when entries close wins. Read each competition’s rules for its closing time and who can enter.
My reward hasn’t arrived. What now? Check your Inbox first. If it is missing, use the Help centre or WhatsApp the team on +27 72 986 5136. Never share your voucher codes or one-time PINs.
